Abraham lincoln is one of the renowned presidents of the United States. He will always be remembered for terminating the American Civil War. He was the one who intensified his voice against slavery in the united state and brought the required amendment to the constitution against the social evil of slavery.

6. Abraham lincoln got four children. It was very unfortunate that Robert Todd Lincoln was the only one who could survive to adulthood and grew older. The rest of them died at their very early stages of life.

7. Before becoming president Abe had struggled a lot. Hailing from a poor family he did a job of a woodcutter, a small shop-owner and postmaster.

8. Prior to 1854, The Great Emancipator's ideological party was the Whig Party. After the self-destructing of the Whig Party, he joined the Republican Party. In 1864, he joined the National Union Party.

9. Honest Abe had a unique enthusiasm for governmental issues and law. He started to consider these subjects seriously when he was chosen for the Illinois General Assembly in the year 1834.

10. On April 14, 1865, the President along with his wife went to watch a play at Ford's Theater in Washington, D.C. It is when The Great Emancipator aged 56 was assassinated by John Wilkes Booth. At 7:22 am on April 15, 1865, Abraham Lincoln took his last breath.
